Arts on Walnut Street: Celebrating 100 years of History

Orange County's first high school, Santa Ana High School, is celebrating its 100th Anniversary on its current site. All our Visual and Performing Arts Programs will collaborate to create a unique and art-filled day in honor of our school's history. Pilobolus is a sun-loving fungus that grows in barnyards and pastures. It is also a remarkable American dance company with an international influence. Pilobolus’ physical vocabulary is not drawn traditional sources but is invented during intense periods of improvisation and creative play. The company has created over 100 collaborative works becoming an influential force in the world of dance. It is one of the most popular and enduring companies in contemporary dance.

During A World Orchestra You Can Build, families will explore the endless possibilities of making hand-made musical instruments from common household items during a two-part musical extravaganza. First, discover the origin, science, and playing techniques of simple instruments from many cultures during a fun-filled performance with musician, instrument maker, and educator, Dr. Craig Woodson.
The fun continues when you receive the materials and instructions needed to make your very own musical instrument, “the drumpet”—a combination drum and trumpet! Invented by Dr. Woodson, this simple instrument enables people of all ages to understand the musical sound families, music from around the world, and the importance of recycling.
Please note: This event is presented outdoors.

Imagination Celebration: Art Off the Wall
