Job Description: Ceramic Studio Technician, Independent Contractor

Job Summary
A Ceramic Studio Technician supports the daily operation of a ceramics studio by maintaining equipment, preparing clay and glazes, organizing tools and materials, and ensuring a clean, safe workspace. They assist with loading and unloading kilns, monitor firing schedules, perform basic equipment maintenance, manage inventory, and provide technical support to students, artists, or instructors as needed. The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of ceramic processes, and a commitment to studio safety and organization at the beautiful working environment of the Muckenthaler Cultural Center. The ideal candidate will also possess a skill set working with all ages, is proficient in different mediums and can offer a wide variety of art classes. Although the operations of the ceramic studio will be the primary duty, this position does offer additional hours through other teaching opportunities.
The Muckenthaler is located on 8.5 acres of perfectly landscaped parklands on a hill overlooking Fullerton. We are a historic mansion and home to an on-site gallery, 250 seat amphitheater, a ceramics studio and 3 art studios.

Preferred Qualifications
This position requires working in a ceramics studio environment with exposure to clay dust, glazes, kiln heat, and studio equipment. The technician must follow all safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and maintain a safe working environment for all studio users.
Stipend
$25- $50 per hour, DOE
