Art Journaling Workshops: An Adventure for Living, Teaching, and Learning

Andrea Guillaume and Kristine Quinn–who have led art journaling with artists of all ages for two decades–are leading a series of art journaling workshops for adults at any experience level.  The workshops–held in vibrant downtown Fullerton–lead participants in joyful exploration of different art media and processes in order to capture their lives through art journals.  Many of our participants are teachers who’d like to bring this powerful learning experience to their students; others are solely interested in reflecting on their own lives using a variety of visual arts techniques.

The workshops are Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. at the All the Arts for all the Kids Foundation studio, 114 N. Harbor Blvd in Fullerton.  The dates are 9/26, 10/10, and 11/14 at the cost of $50 per session or the discounted rate of $125 for all three sessions.  Participants may bring their own journals and materials, or they may purchase journals and journaling kits online or on site.  Participants will also have access to studio materials during the workshops.

Sample media include acrylics, water color, pen and ink, tempera sticks, and collage.  Techniques include observational drawing, combining images with text, slow journaling, and stenciling.

Past participants have appreciated the accepting and supportive community the presenters encourage, as well as their encouragement to inquire, explore, and find one’s own way to express thoughts and experiences in a journal.
