Balanced/ Unbalanced Four Cubes was created by Fletcher Benton in 1982.

This piece of metallic, abstract geometric art created by Fletcher Benton in 1982 is affectionately called UC Irvine’s “abstract anteater.” The sculpture, titled “Balanced/Unbalanced Four Cubes,” is located near the entrance to Middle Earth student dormitory housing.

It was removed in 2018 due to its deteriorated condition.
