Black Snake Moon, by Hung Tran, commemorates the late Kobe Bryant being painted shortly after the accident. The mural portrays him mid-leap about to dunk a heart balloon into the building vent, with Michael Jordan being the shadow behind Kobe. A small girl looks on while as basketball is at her feet.

Tran revisited the mural, when asked by the building owner, to repaint over graffiti tagging. The small girl, in the mural, was changed from a Banksy style to resembling Gianna Bryant, at the time. Fans and tourists visit regularly, leaving mementos and taking photos with the mural.

“I am so grateful that this Kobe mural changed my life in so many way spiritually and opened up so many doors for me […] To see locals stop to tell their stories and the impact it had on them and their family members was touching and I’m happy that Kobe can hang awhile in Laguna Beach.” – Hung Tran.
